[The recording of the Ninth with Seiji Ozawa and the prestigious New Philharmonia Orchestra was made in February 1974, in the bitter cold, in only two days because of a power strike. Ozawa said, "This created a sense of tension for me and for the entire orchestra, and I think it led to a good result. This recording of Seiji Ozawa's first "Ninth" was awarded the 1975 Recording Academy Prize for its realistic performance, which was filled with Ozawa's enthusiasm and fervor. Rubidium clock cutting.
