Handcrafted by a member of Halima Handicrafts, a women's cooperative in West Bengal, this style of intricate embroidery a Bengali form of quilting is known as nakshi kantha and was traditionally done using recycled material and threads from old saris. The scene depicted here is of a street scene with a mosque with minarets in the background. The framed piece measures 19 1/2" x 16".
