Rossini (1792-1868)
Description:
King Szijsmond of Poland, mistakenly believing that his beloved wife Ardimira had betrayed him, sentenced her to death. However, he is still tormented by remorse and finally suffers a mental breakdown. However, Ardimira is alive and appears before the king under the name of Ejelinda. The mastermind behind the plot is the king's confidant, the vizier Ladislao. Rossini's opera "Sisymondo" was first performed in 1814. However, it was a "failure" that was rarely performed after that. However, the "Rossini Renaissance" that took place in the 21st century has unearthed such a work that has not been exposed to the light of day. People are reaffirming the excellence of these works. This performance was recorded live at the Wirtbart Rossini Festival. The well-balanced cast of singers shines through. Naxos Japan
