Description:

Czerny, previously known as "a composer of practical exercises," has recently been highlighted as "a disciple of the great Beethoven and a teacher of Liszt," and his works other than exercises have also been attracting attention, with symphonies and chamber music being performed and recorded one after another. This album contains four linked works inspired by the novels of Walter Scott, a Scottish novelist who dominated the 18th and 19th centuries. All are world premiere recordings, and will make Czerny's works known to the public, as well as to a new repertoire of linked works. Czerny is known to have been an avid reader of Scott's works, and by cleverly quoting various Scottish folk songs, such as "Scottish Fishing Bell Grass" in "Veyvali," he succeeds in putting Scott's magnificent and romantic worldview into music. The ever-changing tone of the piece is unpredictable, and we hope you will enjoy the rich orchestral sound created by the four hands and the beautiful melodies that emerge one after another.
