The factory intercooler core is 18.0" long, 7.0" tall, and 2.25" thick. The MPx Intercooler core is 19.0" long, 8.0" tall, and 4.0" thick. It may not sound like much, but the MPx intercooler is almost DOUBLE the volume of the factory intercooler!
This intercooler fits behind the stock bumper with no cutting involved, and uses the factory intercooler piping. All while not forcing you to remove the crash bar, or do any cutting of any sort. This intercooler will work fantastic for you guys that have increased the boost by lowering the intake air temperatures and providing a more consistent temperature. No heat soaking like with the factory intercooler when you are driving it hard!
Tech tip- when installing this intercooler, the factory intercooler has steel u clips for bolts to pass through the radiator into the intercooler from behind. For a easier install, we recommend removing the steel U clips from the OEM intercooler and mounting them on the radiator so you can install the bolts from the front of the car instead of from the engine bay side.
NOTE ONLY for customers outside of North America: We have found that some export model PT Cruisers have a tab welded to the crash bar for use with a screw in tow hook. The tab will need to be cut off to use this larger intercooler, as we designed this intercooler on a US Market PT Cruiser which did not have a tow hook.
