The distinctive voice of Robert Smith, frontman of the well-known The Cure, blends curiously and perfectly with Lauren's clear voice, and the song is supported by a dark piano tone that is in keeping with the concept of remaining conscious even when drowning.Recorded in Los Angeles and Glasgow, using video calls and audio sharing programs, the album was self-produced by Lauren Mayberry, Martin Doherty, and Ian Cook, who even mixed it themselves.
