Description:

Blue Shadow! Procol Harum's 1967 live collection, including 7 BBC sessions, a Paris concert, and a live outdoor festival in Belgium, from Eternal Grooves' "ROCK OFF" series! The international hit "Blue Shadow". The band that created the world famous hit "Blue Shadow" is back with a live performance from 1967! Vocalist Gary Brooker's piano and Matthew Fischer's organ are interwoven on twin keyboards. In addition to super guitarist Robin Trower, poet Keith Reed (who only writes poetry, not playing instruments) is a member of the band. The band has a solemn classical sound with a unique R&B flavor. Their debut song "Blue Shadow," released in May 1967, spent six consecutive weeks at No. 1 in the U.K., and was a big hit in Europe as well. It was also a big hit in other parts of Europe, and the band embarked on a European tour. This album includes seven songs from their two BBC broadcasts in the UK, including "Homburg," "Kaleidoscope," "Mabel," and other songs from their debut album. And 7 songs from the Paris, France tour. Rare live takes of "Christmas Camel" and "Salad Dace" are also included, as well as "Cerdes" featuring R. Trower's blues guitar. The live version of "Blue Shadow" performed at the end of the concert includes the lyrics of the third verse, which was cut from the album version and the single version. Finally, three songs from the "Bilzen Jazz Festival 1967" in Belgium are included, starting with "Christmas Camel," in which R. Trower inserts a Clapton-like guitar phrase, followed by "Conquistador," with its dramatic classical minor riff. The "Conquistador" is played in succession. The band's predecessor, the Paramounts, was called "the best R&B band ever! The band's classical elements and surrealistic narrative lyrics had a great influence on progressive rock bands such as King Crimson, and this is a rare live collection from 1967. This is the first release from Eternal Grooves' "ROCK OFF" series.
