The first gen Neon OEM style radiator is designed so that the inlet and the outlet are directly above each other. The water flows into the upper reservoir, and then is pushed/gravity pulled downwards. It immediately goes to the outlet and is then pulled back into the engine with the water pump.

This design works ok for Neons that are not pushed hard, or driven in extreme heat. However, for cars that are driven in endurance races, or raced hard, it leaves room for improvement. First gen Neons with engines that run hot and need lots of cooling like SRT-4 swapped first gen Neons will benefit greatly from this radiator design.

What we have done is to have a custom made aluminum high performance radiator made, but with the inlet moved over to the side so that water is not taking the short path to the outlet on the bottom. This means that the coolant has more time to dissipate heat into the radiator as it spends more time in the radiator.

This radiator can be purchased with or without our two piece MPx silicone hose set. This hose combo is designed to work on SRT4 swapped first gens. We have custom made second gen Neon/SRT4 upper hoses and first gen lower silicone hose sets that can be used perfectly with this radiator. If you have a non turbo first gen setup, you will need to source your own upper hose at a local auto parts store.
