Dom La Nena
Description:
Dom La Nena, a singer/songwriter/cello player born in Brazil and raised in Buenos Aires/Paris, has released his long-awaited new album. The title of the album is "Leon," the nickname of his cello partner, and as the name suggests, it is an instrumental album that evokes baroque, neoclassical, and film music, with the cello at its center. Nena's first encounter with music was with Vivaldi. She was later attracted to the romantic works of Chopin and then the minimalism of Philip Glass, and at the age of eight she moved to Paris, where she met her current partner, the cello. Despite the difficulties of moving to Paris, the cello was always there for her, and soon became her best friend and partner. This work was composed and recorded over a period of two months, using the cello alone, and is a reflection of her roots and her partner. Noah Georgeson, known for his collaborations with Hodrigo Amaranti and Devendra Banhart, mixed the music.
