An antique water jug, one of our favorite vessel forms, in a petite, highly collectible scale.

This small piece carries everything we love about the larger traditional forms, from its classic silhouette to its deeply expressive surface. Rich dark hues are layered with hand-painted detailing, softened and worn by time into a beautifully aged patina that feels both raw and refined.

Likely originally used as an early form of personal water vessel, essentially an ancient “water bottle” before modern containers existed, these jugs were carried, filled, and refilled throughout daily life. Their size made them practical for individual use, while their form reflects the ingenuity of early Anatolian and Mediterranean pottery traditions.

Today we love it styled on a stack of books, in a vignette on open shelving, or layered within a collection of antique vessels to highlight its scale, texture, and story.
