Burgundy, France | 100% Chardonnay | 91 JM
"Les Nosroyes" is one of the most strategically placed village parcels in Puligny-Montrachet, situated immediately below the renowned Premier Cru Les Perrières. Sourced from 55-year-old vines rooted in poor, shallow calcareous soils mixed with sand and gravel, this 0.7-hectare plot delivers naturally low yields of extraordinary concentration. It is a wine that captures the quintessential Puligny tension: a bridge between opulent fruit and a crystalline, stony mineral core.
Earning a very convincing 91/100 from Jasper Morris MW, the 2023 vintage is a study in "nervosity" and poise. The nose is focused and expressive, opening with mid-lemon hues and hints of generous tropical fruit. On the palate, the wine is concentrated and lively, showing a "crunchy" aspect to the finish that balances its volume. Jasper Morris notes an interesting juxtaposition of fruit weight and vibrant acidity, leading to a long, poised finish. While built for the cellar (drinking best from 2027), its energy makes it a perfect partner for scallops, lobster, or refined poultry.
Following the estate’s "New Beginning" philosophy, winemaker François Lecaillon focuses on absolute transparency for this site. The old vines are farmed organically to preserve the integrity of the limestone soils. In the cellar, light-touch winemaking—including native yeast fermentation and a slow, gentle press—ensures that the natural concentration of the 55-year-old vines is never obscured, but rather polished to a high-precision shine.
