Description:

Starting with the Goldberg Variations in 1955, Gould's Bach performances overturned the previous conception of Bach and established a new canon of Bach performance in the 20th century with its freshness, vividness, and deep spirituality. This is Gould's third album and the first concerto album recorded with Bernstein, and although the two pieces are a little subdued, both were works that Gould played repeatedly during his concert activities. In this sense, it is a combination of two of Gould's most favorite concertos. The brilliant performance of the young geniuses competing with each other shines through. (C)RS
