Liszt and Berlioz were close lifelong friends and rivals who influenced each other. Liszt first arranged Berlioz's work for piano in 1833 in his Symphonie fantastique. The arrangement was so brilliant that Liszt's version was published before Berlioz's original. Liszt continued to love Berlioz's works and performed the piano arrangement on many occasions, which resulted in his efforts to popularize Berlioz's works. In this album, you can hear some interesting works, including Liszt's development of the idée fixe (fixed musical theme) that appears in Berlioz's "Symphonie fantastique. Naxos Japan
