About the Producer

Carlos Estrella is a third-generation coffee producer from La Unión, currently based in the village of Buenos Aires in northern Nariño. Coffee farming is deeply rooted in his family, with knowledge passed down from his grandparents, preserving both tradition and identity.

Carlos began his journey in coffee in 2006 by planting traditional varieties. In 2012, driven by innovation and evolving market trends, he introduced less common varieties to the region, expanding both quality potential and diversity on the farm.

About the Farm

La Estrella farm is located in Buenos Aires village at an altitude of around 2200 MASL. The farm spans 9 hectares and is home to approximately 20,000 coffee trees.

A diverse range of varieties are cultivated here, including Caturra, Colombia, Geisha, Pink Bourbon, and Laurina, reflecting Carlos’s focus on experimentation and quality-driven production.

Location & Climate

The farm is situated in San Pedro de Cartago (1°33′05″N, 77°07′08″W), Nariño, Colombia. The region features a high-altitude tropical climate with relatively stable temperatures ranging from 20°C to 29°C throughout the year.

Conditions are generally humid, cloudy, and consistent — creating an ideal environment for slow cherry development and complex flavor profiles.
