The 2010 album "El Existential" won the Grammy for "Best Latin Rock/Alternative/Urban Album" the following year, and took the tejano music scene by storm. Grupo Fantasma was the first to take the tejano music scene by storm. After five years, Grupo Fantasma has released their highly anticipated new album, "Problemas" (2014), which was released in Japan. Grupo Fantasma is a Latin rock-funk band formed in 2000 in Austin, Texas, as a result of the merger of the two original bands, The Blimp and The Blue Noise Band. Led by guitarist Adrian Quezada, the band aimed to create a mixture of Latin American music such as cumbia, salsa, and chicha, mixed with funk and rock sounds. They have released six albums so far, including a live album, and while they have grown with each album, they have attracted attention from various quarters for their style, inviting a wide variety of guests each time, and have received praise from the late Prince, Austin indie band Spoon, Tex-Mex great Los Lobos, and others. Fans of the band may know that they have received enthusiastic love calls from the late Prince, Austin indie band Spoon, Tex-Mex great Los Lobos, and many others.Their new album for 2019 will showcase a new Fantasma sound that incorporates the experience they have gained over the past five years. Produced by Miami-based musician Carlos "El Loco" Bedoja, the album features 13 tracks of Latino funk that are more giddy than ever. The album also presents a new direction by incorporating the guitar sounds of Turkish psychedelia, which is currently a worldwide trend, and features a number of new artists, including Josh Baca, accordionist of the popular Tex-Mex group "Los Texmaniacs," Sunny Jain of the bhangra funk band "Red Baraato," and Cumbia's As in previous releases, a variety of guest musicians participate, including Sunny Jain, accordionist with the group Los Texmaniacs; Mr. Bajenat, accordionist with the Cumbia band Red Baraat; and many others. As the title suggests, this is the seventh album that seems to symbolize the current state of the Americas, where a variety of musical styles coexist.
