Description:
The music of the Strauss family, which swept across Europe in the 19th century, had a strong influence on the musicians of the same period, and many composers created a wide variety of waltzes, polkas, and marches. However, much of the music has been forgotten and is rarely heard today. Conductor John Georgiadis' attempt is to revive these works with the "name of the composer". Some pieces are re-orchestrated from the original material, evoking the atmosphere of the heyday of the waltz. Some of the pieces are reminiscent of the heyday of the Strauss family, including Rinke's "Madame Luna," which we still hear from time to time, and Huczyk's waltz, known for its "Entrance of the Swordsman.
