1905 Shiraz

The fruit for our 1905 Shiraz is sourced from Shiraz vines planted in 1905 on our home block high in the Barossa Ranges. The soils up here are rocky, yellow podzolic matter over clays and we utilise double wire trellising in our vineyard.

The fruit is handpicked before being placed on racks. The grapes are then naturally fermented in open vats before being aged in new French oak 1350L vats and puncheons for a period of 24 months. Bottled unfiltered.

This wine highlights all that is great about the Barossa Ranges producing fruit with structure and restrained power. Drinking beautifully now the 2017 Gregor will cellar for many years.

Colour: Deep, vibrant purple/ red.

Nose: A lifted floral bouquet with dark red berries. Dark chocolate, mocha, cigar box and pepper undertones bring complexity.

Palate: An elegant Shiraz featuring red berries and anise and enveloped with warm oaky spice. Lovely balance of acid structure with fine, silky tannins creating a smooth and rich mouthfeel and a long and lingering finish. This wine has power, elegance and texture.
