Ancient Roman Iron Plough Head Chisel 1st-5th Century AD Peterborough England

Two substantial iron artifacts from a private collection, presented on a fitted wooden display plaque. A typed label identifies them as a Roman Plough Head and Chisel, 1st to 5th Century AD, found outside Peterborough, England.

Peterborough (Roman Durobrivae) was a significant Roman settlement and agricultural centre. The surrounding fenland region was extensively farmed during the Roman period and has yielded numerous agricultural implements over the centuries.

The lot comprises two pieces:

1. CHISEL/COULTER — Elongated tapered triangular iron piece consistent with a Roman chisel or plough coulter tip. The pointed tapered form is characteristic of Roman iron tools of this type.

2. PLOUGH HEAD/SHARE — Broader irregular iron piece consistent with a plough head or share fragment. Heavy surface corrosion throughout.

Both pieces display heavy black iron corrosion consistent with significant age. Presented on original wooden display plaque with typed identification label.

• Material: Iron

• Provenance: Label states found outside Peterborough, England

• Presentation: Original fitted wooden display plaque

• From a private collection

Sold as collector's items. The identification label was applied by a previous owner or collector. No guarantee of age or origin is made — buyer should satisfy themselves as to authenticity.

A great display piece for collectors of Roman Britain material, agricultural history, or ancient ironwork.
