Description:

A page in the hidden history of modern jazz! The first recording of the famous saxophonist Gato Barbieri as an actual leader in existence has been discovered! Unpublished recordings of Argentinean saxophonist Gato Barbieri at the legendary Jamaica club in Buenos Aires in 1961, a few months before he moved to Rome! After moving to Rome, Gato met Don Cherry and released his free jazz-influenced works on ESP in 1967, but there are no confirmed records of Gato as a leader in the early 1960s. This is one of the most astonishing recordings of the first leader among the surviving recordings. He plays a gory modern jazz with a good selection of songs such as Coltrane's "Impressions", "Village Blues", Cole Porter's "What is this thing called love? Lopez Fuerst (!), who was 24 years old at the time, joined the band on piano. Ruben Lopez Hulst (!), who was 24 years old at the time, joined the band on piano, and the album is a condensed version of the delicious Argentine jazz of the time.Although this is not a professional live recording, it is far more valuable than that. This is a work of great documentary value as a page in the unknown history of modern jazz, and it has been unearthed! If you are a jazz lover, don't miss this one!
