The OM4 cable type has a higher attenuation that helps reduce losses over greater distances. It supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet at lengths measuring up to 550 meters, with 40 Gigabit and 100 Gigabit Ethernet measuring up to 150 meters. depending on the type of transceiver and wavelength. OM4 is backward compatible with OM3. The OM4 cable has a core size of 50 microns and the diameter of the outer cladding is 125 microns.
