THE STORY
My husband's father's family is from Hong Kong and we've had fun celebrating the Lunar New Year most years since we met in 2010. We used to host Lunar New Year parties with our own silly lion dance and silly toys to hand out and all of his favourite foods. I had even started making a set of giant red posters for each year, painted with black ink and gold leaf accents. (I only made it four or five years in before my dedication to the project wavered.) We had fun with it. And now our daughter has taken quite an interest in the story of the Chinese Zodiac animals, inspiring me to take another stab at doing a set of twelve pieces, one each year for the twelve animals.
