PADI ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE IN MALTA

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is the next step in your diving adventure in Malta, taking you deeper to 30m. You don't have to be "advanced" to take it - the course is designed so you can go straight into it after the PADI Open Water Diver course. This course helps you:

• Increase your confidence and build your skills
• Become more competent and comfortable in the water
• Get more dive education from a PADI Instructor
• Access deeper dive sites

The course costs €395 which includes everything you need.

Why become a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver?

The PADI Advanced Open Water course qualifies you to dive to a maximum depth of 30 metres, opening up a whole new level of dive sites for you to explore. This is particularly useful for diving in Malta, where we have a large number of wrecks (for example, the P29) and spectacular dive sites in the 18–30m range which are otherwise inaccessible to Open Water divers.

The course improves your dive skills in a number of key areas, such as dive planning and gas management, underwater navigation, and buoyancy control, giving you the tools and knowledge to take your diving further.

What do I need to start?

• PADI Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organisation)
• Minimum age: 15 years old (12 for the PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver)

What will I do on the course?

The PADI Advanced Open Water course consists of five adventure dives, normally spread over two days. Each dive has a specific focus, teaching you important skills. A Deep dive emphasises proper dive planning and gas management for deeper diving. A Navigation dive covers various methods to keep your bearings underwater. A Peak Performance Buoyancy dive focuses on optimising your buoyancy control, trim, and propulsion techniques.

You can then choose your remaining dives based on your own personal interests, from the following options:

How long will it take?

The course normally takes 2 or 3 days depending on your comfort levels. Our course schedules and start dates are flexible to suit your needs. Email us to discuss your schedule.

We also offer free hotel pick-up and drop-off service if you are staying in the St Paul's Bay, Bugibba, Qawra, or Xemxija areas. 

Before any in-water activities, you will complete a pre-dive medical. Please read the Medical Form carefully to verify whether you will need a doctor's approval of fitness to dive.

Nitrox Diver Upgrade

The Nitrox course is the perfect course to take alongside your Advanced Open Water, getting the most out of our deeper dives. The PADI Enriched Air Diver course is PADI's most popular specialty diving course. Scuba diving with enriched air (nitrox) gives you longer no-decompression limits, meaning more time underwater, especially on repetitive dives, while also reducing post-dive fatigue. This course can be fully integrated into your Advanced Open Water course, giving you more time in the water and less time in the classroom.

Deep Diver Upgrade

Why is the Deep course perfect for Malta? Because you can fully explore the wrecks beyond the 30m limit. Deep dives require planning and discipline to enjoy safely. This course qualifies you to dive to 40 metres - the maximum limit for recreational scuba diving. To complete this upgrade you will need an additional 3 open water dives.

Wreck Upgrade

Malta is known for its selection of wrecks. Whether sunk on purpose as an artificial reef or the result of mishap, wrecks open fascinating windows to the past. With the Wreck specialty you learn how to dive safely outside and inside a wreck. The PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course teaches you the ins and outs of rewarding, responsible, and safe wreck diving.

What next?

After your Advanced Open Water, the natural progression is the PADI Rescue Diver course, widely considered the most rewarding course divers ever take.
