After leaving Deep Purple, David Coverdale formed Whitesnake in 1978 to pursue his own musical style. In the 80's, David Coverdale took a break from the band due to personal problems with his band members. In 1982, after producing and releasing his 5th album "Saints and Sinners", he started a new lineup. The band toured the UK, Europe, and Japan starting with a Manchester show on January 1, 1983. After the tour, they performed a special concert in Ludwigshafen, Germany on March 19 of the same year for television broadcast in Europe and for video productions. This concert was later broadcast on European television stations, but was not released as a video. The set list of the day was 14 songs including encores, and this live album is a complete recording of the concert.The band, consisting of Jon Lord and Mickey Moody, who returned to the band with a new rhythm section of Cozy Powell & Colin Hodgkinson, and Mel Garay, who joined from Trapeze, was a promising new development of Whitesnake to meet the expectations of David Coverdale. The band was a best-of at this point in time, and the live archive of this lineup is available here. This is the first live archive of this lineup to be released, and is an important live album that documents the band's history!
