Latin name - Eugenia ligustrina
Privet stopper is a low-input Florida native shrub that’s ideal as a hedge plant, privacy screen, or bee and butterfly attractor. Heat and drought tolerant, pest-resistant.
Privet stopper trees share a genetic family with other stopper varieties like Spanish Stopper and White Stopper. *Not to be conflated with invasive Common Privet (ligustrum spp.)*
Native to the Americas, wistful little white flowers resembling guava flowers produce a delicate fragrance which give way to small red edible berries. Privet Stopper berries are enjoyed by local fauna such as birds, reptiles, and small mammals. Produces in 3-4 years from seed.
