Description:
From the UK Afrobeat scene, Juanita Euka, a Congolese singer active in the London Afrobeat Collective and other groups, makes her debut on the prestigious STRUT label! As a result, she is deeply influenced not only by African music, but also by Latin American music in general. She has been deeply influenced by artists such as her uncle, the Congolese rumba giant "Franco" Ruambo Maciadi, known for leading Franco et le T.P.O.K. Jazz, Papa Wemba, Juan Luis Guerra, and Mercedes Sosa, and especially by Celia Cruz, who is known as the leader of T.P.O.K. Jazz. She also says that Celia Cruz and La Rupe are her strongest influences. She then moved to England at the age of 14, where she immersed herself in London's unique sound, from UK garage to grime. She has since emerged as a singer with the London Afrobeat Collective and Animanz, and this is her long-awaited debut album. The album is produced by Greg Sanders, who is the leader of Teotima, a group that challenges its own sound while incorporating Afrobeat, and the members who participated in this album are basically musicians who participate in Teotima. This album is based on the light Afrobeat style similar to Teotima, but also includes tracks with a strong Latin flavor, and is truly a piece that will lead the new generation of Afro-Latin.
