Description:
Celebrating 450 years. An album commemorating the 450th anniversary of the creation of the 40-voice motet "I have no hope but Thee," which immortalized the 16th-century English composer Thomas Tallis. The 16th century English choral culture flourished and produced a wide variety of sacred and secular works. This album is a collection of sacred songs, all of which are clear, transparent, and heartwarming. Performed by the ORA Singers, founded in 2014 and led by Susie Digby, the group specializes in Renaissance and contemporary choral works. Their focus on recording rather than performing is unique. The CD is accompanied by a 35-minute DVD. The recording of Tallis' "I Have No Hope Besides Thee," which is also the title of the album, and other scenes from the recording are intriguing. Also valuable is a conversation between Suge Digby and James MacMillan. Japanese subtitles are not available. King International
