When cargo ships call at the destination port after thousands of nautical miles, there is still a difficult section ahead of them. This is where the harbour tugboats come into play, which take command and pull the huge ships safely to the pier. The tugboats do not pick up cargo, but are used to haul and bow large tankers and cargo ships. The small, robust, but very manoeuvrable ships have a very powerful engine from 250 to several thousand hp. Their command bridges are designed as high superstructures in order to guarantee a good all-round view for safe guidance through the narrow port area in accordance with their task. The stern, bow and side walls are usually reinforced and additionally equipped with wickerwork.
