Blue Murder was formed by John Sykes, who left Whitesnake after a rift with David Coverdale. The band started with Tony Franklin (ex-The Firm) and Carmine Appice (ex-Cactus, Beck Bogart & Appice, King Cobra), and debuted in 1989 with the album "Blue Murder", which was highly anticipated by HM/HR fans. The band's sound was truly royal. The band's sound, which was truly royal road, was a big hit in Japan, and all seven of their shows in Japan in August of the same year were immediately sold out. The Tokyo show on August 20, the first day of the tour, was recorded for broadcast as promotional material in Japan and the United States.
