Description:
The only album (1973) by Boston singer/songwriter Paul McNeil released on "Just Sunshine," a treasure trove of roots-rock classics. Two previously unreleased songs are included as bonus tracks. Notable backing players are Jeff "Skunk" Baxter (guitar, pedal steel / Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers) and Robin Batteau (violin / Appaloosa - Compton & Batteau). McNeil's songs are moderately pop, but his down-to-earth folk-blues numbers have the flavor of British singers such as Nick Drake and John Martin. The album also features two of Boston's rock scene's most iconic rockers, who skillfully utilize their respective talents to create a rich variety of sounds, with baroque-folk numbers and jazz- and country-flavored numbers splitting the album. The album is full of variety in sound. M12 is a demo version of a song from the album.M11 is a rare find with a superb finish that could easily have been included on an album. VIVID SOUND
