1981 Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico, Bertani"The vintage was very good and the profile of the wine is quite rich, with 15. 3% alcohol and 5. 2 grams of residual sugar. Bottled in 1991, this 'Recioto Amarone' is full of meaty and smoky notes, broth, forest floor and a general oxidative character full of Marmite and spoiled fruit. The attack is rustic, grainy if not grippy, with a slight bitterness on the finish. The super savoury end makes it interesting to match with food." Decanter, Sept 2022
