All sections are straight. The rod features mottle-flamed shafts with deep orange silks and black silks at the ferrules. 3x3 node spacing. Gloss spar varnish. Oxidized hardware. Light wire snake guides. Black agate stripping guide. Tips are marked 1 and 2. 7" tapered cork grip. Handsome cap and ring reel seat with a Japanese spruce burl spacer. Blued n/s type "Z" ferrules with an excellent fit. The action is a medium-fast with a good bit of backbone. Joe based the taper design on a quicker, more powerful Pezon et Michel Speedcast taper. The rod excels at fishing big water with lots of wind and/or long casts. Includes original bag and Cabela's cordura tube.
