A monumental 19th century French Louis Philippe period table de drapier from a draper's atelier in Lyon, circa 1840s. Handcrafted of solid walnut with a pine skirt, this exceptional draper table features a large rounded edge two-plank top resting upon six turned legs with a single plank bottom shelf that also has rounded corners. Draper tables were used by seamstresses to measure and cut fabrics and textiles, and were a common feature in cloth merchant’s shops. This superb example of a French draper's table, having excellent form and a rich, warm patina, will be a statement piece that adds charm and character to any room. Perfect as a kitchen island, work table, or console table, it will also work well in a foyer, restaurant, or as a store display.
