Superb sermons / lectures by Jesse Appleton [b.1774] as President of Bowdoin College. As President, he actively sought to bring a deeper, revivalist piety to the student body, and an ongoing sense of the divine intervention of God in daily life through the Spirit, He preached regularly of historic revivals, of the missionary call, etc., and was an academic edge to the Second Great Awakening.

The present, in attractive original calf, contains series on the Demoniacs of the New Testament, the Evil of War and the Coming Millennial Peace, on Human Depravity, Atonement, and Regeneration, etc.
