An Aroner Hunt Pattern bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 3-piece, 2-tip, built for a #5 line. This has my "M" or medium designation. Very lightly used in near mint condition with no soiling to the grip. Just the very beginning of casting cracks to the ferrule wraps. The rod would date to the mid-to-late 1980's. The cane is medium flame color done in a three up node pattern configuration. The varnish is perfect and flat as I gave these multiple sanded coats of Cosmo spar varnish. The wraps are slightly darker than my typical "may rose" on the Hunts, as I lightened them slightly for later rods. The edge wraps are orange with a band of burgundy at the keeper alone. The keeper is on the wrap flat. The rod is outfitted with a carbide stripper and high arch HSS snake guides. The grip is 5 1/4" long and done in a slim cigar profile. The cork check, swiss ferrules, and the cap and ring are polished bright. The truncated swiss ferrules have a collar on the males with an inset slant knurl and two trim marks. The ferrule fit is perfect. The reel seat spacer is a varnished and mortised figured walnut and shows some reel foot impressions. The rod is arrow straight and ready for use. This rod does not come outfitted with ferrule plugs as I did not make them back then, though I can supply some should the buyer wish. The rod packs into a tan cloth bag made from material I purchased at the Leonard auction. The rod tube is polished and outfitted with a brass top and bottom supplied to me by Sam Carlson.
