Okay a phenomenal volume for a host of reasons; first, it is still housed in its really lovely 17th century vellum binding, all edges gilt, and elaborately gauffered foredges; second, the present work was issued by a disciple of John Calvin and Theodore Beza, having studied under them at Geneva is an absolutely biting piece of pro-reformation, anti-Catholic satire in the model of the pope-jester medals, etc.; third, it is quite rare on the market [a copy of his Van Marnix' Cathecism is for sale elsewhere for over $5,000.00; and finally, it's just a great read!

Original vellum as shown; front hinge split and then relaid. stain to front board. Still very attractive and sound. attractive personal bookplate on pastedown, period signature of Thomas Crowley Bowdy [?] and an earlier price of $1,200.00. 

Lacks title and the two woodcuts before the epistle, textually complete. Some light staining at first few leaves and last few.
