A wonderfuly small folio, measuring 8 x 12 inches, in full original leather. Though worn, a wonderful shelf presentation, attractive, and imposing. Additionally, it is from the library of Thomas Charles of Bala [1744-1814], one of the most signficant figures in the Welsh Calvinistic Revival of the 18th century. He studied theology under John Newton and became in many ways leader of a movement that carried forward the Great Awakening, bringing Robert Raikes' model of Sabbath Schools and a Seminary for the Welsh Methodists into Wales. 

Robert Sanderson [1587-1663] was an important Casuist thinker in the 17th century, essentially attempting to work Christian ethics clearly articulated in Scripture into broader civil society and the Church's context.

Title page handled with early stamp from Bala and tracing the book back to Thomas Charles' library. Same at rear. Lacks 319-323, though perhaps bound in elsewhere. Pagination, as usual, erratic.
