A Jim Schaaf rendition of the Dickerson 7612 model bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for what feels like a #4 line. "The Dickerson 7612" and the serial number "76-19-89" is lettered on the shaft above the grip. The rod weighs 3.8 ounces on my scale. Near mint, very lightly used condition, with just a hint of brassing to the inner part of the guides but few signs of use otherwise. Medium action. Medium light wheatstraw colored cane done in a three up node pattern configuration. Wrapped in brown with black tipping throughout, including four intermediates halfway between the keeper and the agate stripping guide. The serial number is inked just above the male ferrule on both tips. Oxidized step ferrules. The grip is 5 1/2" long and shaped to a medium cigar with a gentle taper to the front. The seat is an aluminum downlock over a varnished wood spacer and finishes with a pocket cap with the maker's make stamped opposite the pocket (the cap has a little bit of tarnish to it which should be easily polished out). The rod packs into a tan cloth bag and a black anodized aluminum tube with brass hardware and the original owner's name is engraved on the screw top.
