An exceptionally rare Joe Janicuras Perfection reel made for Orvis to celebrate the company's 150th anniversary in 2006. This reel is a limited reproduction of the Vom Hofe Perfection, which Mr. Janciuras was particularly well known for being able to reproduce down to the tiniest detail. Being serial number 2, this reel was the very first limited edition Orvis 150th anniversary Janciuras reel offered for sale to the public - reel #1 is in the Orvis Museum in Manchester, VT. I've never seen one on the secondary market over the last 18 years. Janciuras made relatively few reels and passed away in 2011, but gained a reputation for crafting exceptionally high quality reels in the Vom Hofe style. The reel is in mint, all original condition. It was never put on a reel seat and was only out of the box a couple of times. This one has all of the characteristics of the original EVH Perfection 360 in Size 1. It is 3" diameter and set up for RHW. It weighs 7.4 ounces on my scale. The frame, foot, and spool are machined from german silver and the sideplates are hard rubber. It sports the handsome arrowhead drag adjuster under the crank with five drag levels marked with red lacquer. The Orvis Anniversary, serial number, and maker are engraved on the oil port cover on the backplate, along with the typical "on/off" drag switch. The reel packs into a leather fleece lined case with the Orvis anniversary stamped into the top and a red original box. As serious collectors know, there are rare reels and then there are RARE reels, and this is one of them.
