Very scarce speech by the brother and successor of abolitionist martyr, Elijah P. Lovejoy, Owen Lovejoy.
In the present, he decries the fanatical fire-eaters controlled by the invisible demons of slavery. Mr. Lovejoy hath neither in this speech, has taken off the gloves, and is giving slaveholders a what-for. I suppose if they murdered my brother, I might do the same when I heard them protest of their polite southern humanity.
Lovejoy, Owen. The Fanaticism of the Democratic Party. Speech of Hon. Owen Lovejoy, of Illinois. Delivered in the U. S. House of Representatives. February 21, 1859. Washington D. C. Buell & Blanchard, Printers. 1860. 8pp.
