For sale here is a Per Brandin hollow-built six-strip (hex) bamboo rod. 8'6 for a DT5 line. Model 865-2 DF. From Per's website, "This eight and one half foot rod for #5 line fills a need for a longer trout rod in bamboo that still casts and handles very positively, especially compared with solid rods of the same line weight and length. I feel it is an improvement over the old E.C. Powell 8 1/2' B9 taper, which exhibits similar qualities and served as inspiration for this model." This rod was made in 2004. Per tells me he has made fewer than a half dozen of this model rod. As many of you know, Per and Mario Wojnicki worked side by side for ten years or so. This rod has a very unique history, blending qualities of these two great makers. From the cork check down, the work is Mario's - the reel seat and insert was changed-out by Mario after the rod was delivered to the owner of the rod. It not only looks fantastic, but the wood spacer matches very well with the olive wraps Per outfitted the rod with, which was a custom request by the original owner. The rod feature Per's typical flared wells grip and was made with ultra-truncated 'micro' swiss style ferrules. The rod comes in Per's brass-capped tube, bag, and canvas tube bag. The rod is in near mint original condition, showing very slight usage. The rod weight is 3 5/8 oz, different from the 3 7/8 oz. on the tube label due to the new reel seat from Mario.
