Narasimha, the half-man, half-lion incarnation, is the fourth of Lord Vishnu’s ten principal avatars, appearing to restore cosmic order.

Slayer of Hiranyakashipu – He incarnated to slay the demon Hiranyakashipu, who had gained a powerful boon making him nearly invincible, after the demon tormented his own son, Prahlad, a devoted follower of Vishnu.
Defying the Boon – Hiranyakashipu’s boon stated he could not be killed during day or night, inside or outside, by a god, demon, man, or animal. Vishnu outwitted this by appearing as Narasimha (half-man, half-lion) and killing him at twilight (neither day nor night) while standing on the threshold of a house (neither inside nor outside).
Symbol of Divine Justice – Narasimha represents the unstoppable force of divine justice, showing that no evil can escape the power of Dharma, no matter how invincible it seems.
Depiction – Narasimha is portrayed as four-armed, holding a conch (shankha), lotus, mace (gada), and chakra (disc-like weapon), symbolizing his divine power, and is often shown at the threshold of a house, signifying the unique way he fulfilled the prophecy.
