Horse Saddled with Time is a striking bronze sculpture that encapsulates the surrealist master's fascination with time, symbolism, and dreamlike imagery. This piece depicts a powerful horse, a symbol of strength and freedom, burdened with the weight of a saddle shaped like a melting clock, one of Dalí’s most iconic motifs. The melting clock represents the fluid and subjective nature of time, a recurring theme in Dalí's work that challenges the rigidity of conventional temporal structures. A small additional detail—what appears to be a crutch-like support—anchors the sculpture’s surreal elements in Dalí’s recurring visual language, a symbol of frailty and support amidst life's complexities.

For this sculpture, Dalí created the maquette in wax, moulding it with his fingers. The hand markings are visible in the body of the horse, its muscles and particularly the mane.

The sculpture is a part of a limited edition series of 350, created and authorized by Salvador Dali, documented in the Catalogue Raisonné of Dalí's sculptures.
