Lavender Cleanser/Toner was my first skincare formula. It was born from decades of searching for products that DO WHAT I NEED THEM TO DO and NOURISH my skin at the same time.

I have struggled with sensitive skin and a lack of appropriate skincare options my whole life. Most cleansers I tried, even specialized boutique formulas, burned my face and left my skin stripped and irritated. Others didn't hurt, but also didn't clean effectively. I was always looking for something else, something more. I wanted my skin to feel healthier AFTER cleaning than it did BEFORE.

In 2014 it had been nearly ten years since my family and I had moved from Los Angeles to Asheville, North Carolina. During that time, I had become obsessed with learning about the nourishing and healing powers of medicinal plants – this ancient knowledge is long associated with this particular part of Appalachia.

One day I noticed my cleanser-du-jour running low. I was not particularly excited about the product, so having to call and order from LA filled me with a dull, familiar dread. That moment is when it hit me -- If I want something that feels good and does what I need it to do, I will have to make it myself. And if I was going to do it myself, I was going to start with the timeless wisdom I had gleaned from the natural world.

That same day I gathered a list of plants I thought would be helpful for my skin and started figuring out ways to incorporate them into a cleanser. I wanted a product that would clean thoroughly but act gently. Feeding and healing my skin at the same time. I wanted a cleanser that would tone my skin as well. A "cleanser/toner". Why not?

I started with lavender because of its affinity for the skin. Lavender prevents degeneration and encourages new growth, heals and calms, and helps prevent premature aging. Before long, I had incorporated nine different therapeutic plants into the lavender-lead formula. I messed around for a few weeks after that, changing little things here and there, and then BOOM! It was perfect.

From day one, my skin was clean and felt nourished without a hint of irritation. I was over the moon!!! Lavender is the star, but each of the other herbs brings its own unique medicine to the recipe for cleansing, toning, and healing. After several weeks of loving my new formula, I started sharing it with friends and family. The excitement was mutual and they confirmed my success. I FINALLY had the skincare product I had been searching for.

Though not initially created to sell, I am thrilled that SOiL's Cleanser/Toners are out in the world to help others the way they've helped my loved ones and me. Ingredients: Witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana). Extracts: Lavender (Lavandula augustifolia), Calendula (Calendula ofioinalis), Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), Comfrey (Symphytum officinale), Hops (Humulus lupulus), Horsetail (Equisetum arvense), Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis). Essential Oils: Lavender (Lavandula augustifolia), Carrot Seed (Daucus carota).

Directions: Shake well before use. Rinse face with warm water. Apply cleanser/toner to pure cotton pad. Gently wipe the entire face clean. Do not rinse.
