It is both a practical manual on fishing techniques and a philosophical celebration of a simple life connected to nature. Think Walden and Henry David Thorough. It explores themes of nature, contemplation, and the virtues of fishing as a peaceful and "mystical" or "spiritual" respite from the world and is considered the first true fishing classic.
This example, unbelievably, remains as new and has never been opened. It was discovered in a warehouse of unopened stock from an antiquarian bookseller in Bedford, UK.
