A George Maurer (Sweetwater Rods) "Bitch Creek Traveler" bamboo fly rod, 7', 3-piece, 2-tip and built for what feels like a #5. Serial "95-10" inked on the rod along with the model name, the maker, and the original owner's name. The rod weighs 3.4 on my scale. Crisp DF action. The sections are nice and straight and the ferrules seat well. The rod is in lightly used condition with some cosmetic wear here and there. The grip shows some moderate soiling and the ring on the reel seat has some oxidation loss but I could find no meaningful issues. The cane is a medium wheatstraw color done in a three up node pattern. The rod is wrapped in brown with black tipping at the grip and ferrules. The wraps just off of the front cork check have signatures with a subtle spiral from one to the next. Oxidized truncated swiss style ferrules. Carbide stripper, with black guides and tip tops. The cork is 6" long and shaped to a medium cigar profile. The reel seat features an oxidized cap and ring over a mortised and stabilized burl spacer. The rod packs into a tan cloth bag with the Sweetwater label on it and an aluminum tube with brass fittings and "Sweetwater Rods" engraved in a flowing script on the brass top.
