A beautifully symbolic piece of Victorian sentimental jewellery, this three sided swivel fob is a miniature treasure brimming with hidden meaning and exquisite craftsmanship. The mount is in 15 carat gold and designed as two snakes, their finely detailed heads curving down to form the swivel attachment. In the language of 19th Century jewellery, the serpent was a powerful emblem of enduring love.

Suspended within the mount is a three sided seal of rich. Each face of the fob is engraved with a different symbolic device with a connecting overall sentimental meaning.

1. “Bon Soir” and a Candle – A tender goodnight, symbolising remembrance, warmth, and light even in times of absence.

2. An Eye and Ear with the Motto “Et Se Taire” – Translating to “And be silent”, this poignant message reflects the deeply Victorian notion of discreet devotion: to watch, to listen, and to love quietly without the need for words.

3. A Cherub with the Motto “Je cherche le plus fidèle” – “I seek the most faithful.” This tender declaration captures the heart of Victorian romantic sentiment: the search for true, constant love above all else. The cherub, messenger of love, reinforces this poetic yearning.

Such fobs were far more than functional seals; they were sentimental tokens exchanged between lovers, friends, or family, carrying personal messages of affection and devotion.
