A very attractive first American edition in full calf of a true devotional, holiness classic. Jeremy Taylor [b.1625] was one of the most experimental of the Anglican divines of the early 17th century. Both his Plain Account of Christian Perfection and Rules and Exercises for Holy Living were deeply influential, even in puritan circles. Wesley read them while at Oxford and was "exceedingly affected." To the last, these early encounters with Jeremy Taylor impacted his thought life, Christian experience, and even the language of "Christian Perfection," etc.

Original tree calf in very smart condition; some rubbing at corners and hinges, consolidated and in very good condition. Corners bumped and just through. Text itself is very good with some light toning throughout. Very solid.
