Gamey and dark with herbal notes, baking spice and wild blueberry. Notes of crisp bacon, white pepper and bay leaf. Rosemary and pine needles. Smelling this wine is like taking a walk in Muir Woods. Makes one imagine graphite, lavender, creosote and lifted violet. Really rolls onto the palate with weight and expansive volume. Cooling and suave as it lightly dusts the palate with cocoa-fine tannins. Black ink on the palate. Finely crushed tannins that are so supportive of the fruit. Perfectly frames the delectable syrah density beautifully. So decadent and built for the long haul. On day two opened, this wine absolutely demands to be near the top of the pyramid of Sangres. Stunningly pure, full-bodied, and concentrated, it has the more focused, structured style of this estate front and center as well as incredible purity and a finish that won't quit.
