Very rare Charleston imprint of The Minority Report, written by the committee's lone dissenter, James J. Pettigrew, himself a future Confederate general, killed during the Civil War
The Majority report, to which the present replies, contained perhaps the most rabid pro-slavery articulation of the era to be found in a formal Governmental document. As Gov. Adams declared: "The outward pressure against the institution of slavery should prompt us to do all we can to fortify it within." And defend it they did!
Last offered by M & S Rare Books, 2008, for $650. Scarce.
