A rather nicely preserved volume textually, Lupton's classic work on the Church Fathers very often surfaces with the beautifully engraved title lacking and the many woodcuts pilfered. This example retains them all, and in a very fine state.
A joy to flip through with excellent concise histories of the Fathers, nearly all adorned with handsome cuts. This likely very early in the impression, the cuts being especially clear and bold.
This copy signed by John Herring, likely the puritan John Herring, ejected 1662 from St. Bride's and friends with William Bates, William Gouge, Edmund Calamy, etc.
